Fallen Tear 1.0 walkthrough: order of play
Quick answer
1.0's opening is open by design. Anchor points: wake, Apex Minikin, first Fated Bond, first Ancient Text, then the Alps town. After that: Rare Hunt contracts, Sanctuary and the mapped regions.
This is the order-of-play walkthrough for 1.0 — spoiler-light, built from the studio's FAQ, the achievement list and the mapped routes. It is not a scripted chapter list, because 1.0 made the opening open on purpose.
Before you take a single step
- Coming from Early Access? Start a new file. The studio rebuilt the opening, quests and economy, and EA saves can break scripts later. That is a developer warning, not a rumor.
- Ignore walkthrough videos dated before 23 September 2026. The route they show is stale. Use them for boss names, not for "go here next".
The opening, in order
| Step | Why it matters | How you know you did it |
|---|---|---|
| Wake up | Tutorial gate | Achievement "You're Finally Awake" |
| Beat Apex Minikin | First named hunt | "Fall of the Protector" (~80% of players) |
| Recruit one Fated Bond | Combat and story both change | "Bound by Fate" (~61%) |
| Grab an Ancient Text | Progression currency, not flavor | "Whispers of the Past" (~52%) |
| Reach the Alps town | First real hub | "First Step, Alps" (~20%) |
That last percentage is the number to respect: the stretch between the first boss and the town is where most players stall, and the fix is usually route discipline, not grinding.
After the town: what opens up
- Sanctuary — the ruin you rebuild into a hub (smithing, arena, utilities). Official feature, not a map layer.
- Rare Hunt contracts — the Korr Hunter's Association loop, tracked by "Half the Game" (1.7%) with the veteran license "Bonafide Hunter" (3.5%). No public contract list exists.
- Ascension skills — the game's build layer. The Steam forums' live question is "ascension order" — the skills page covers what the sources say.
- Ancient Texts — 30 of them for "Keeper of Knowledge" (1.2%). Pick them up as you pass, not as a later trip.
Route conditions you will hit
- Golem Ruins: three artifacts → return them in the large golem's room (door 18) → the bridge between doors 1 and 27 rises → collect Golem's Heart → hand it back, leave via door 2 (full sequence).
- Lilac Mire: four flower sequences — RBGY → Nargun's Cradle, RGGR → shortcut, BYRG → stat chest, GBYR → Gatoroth (details).
- Paupao Falls: for the optional Gustav scene, free him before killing Hivea.
When you feel stuck
- Check the patch you are on. 1.0.1 fixed enemies escaping combat areas and softened one-hit spike sections in Nargun's Cradle — an old complaint may already be patched.
- Trust achievements over memory as checkpoints: "discover all areas" sits at 0.8%, so a blind completion push is meant to be rare, not routine.
- Use the 20-region community map with your build number noted, and re-check any stale pin.
Stuck at a specific door, boss or sequence? Send the checkpoint over with your build — corrections go on the relevant page.
